Numerical Simulation of Water Mist Fire Suppression in Positive Pressure Environment of Ships

In this paper, the fire extinguishing effect of water mist in positive pressure environment of ships is simulated numerically, and the heat release rate and ambient temperature of water mist in four positive pressure environments of 1atm, 1.2atm, 1.5atm and 2atm are given. The results show that, compared with the normal pressure environment, 1.5 ATM and 2ATM are given. The results show that, compared with the normal pressure environment, the ambient temperature decreases by about 50% and the extinguishing time increases by more than 20s when the pressure is 2atm. The positive pressure environment can obviously enhance the cooling effect of the water mist, but it will prolong the extinguishing time. The high temperature and the duration of fire are two important factors endangering the safety of ship structure. Therefore, the water mist fire extinguishing in positive pressure environment of ship should be comprehensively analyzed in combination with the characteristics of steel structure, and the range of positive pressure environment should be reasonably selected, and the temperature and duration of fire should be comprehensively weighed to ensure the optimal fire extinguishing and cooling performance.
