Mid-Infrared Lasers and Supercontinuum Sources Based on Stimulated Raman Scattering in Gas-Filled Hollow-Core Fibers

Stimulated Raman scattering of chirped picosecond 1.03-μm pulses in a hollow-core fiber filled with H

-D
₂
gas-mixture is investigated. A simple way of enriching the mixture by HD molecules is identified. As a result, a mid-infrared gas fiber Raman laser generating at the wavelengths of 2.68, 3.23, 3.9, 4.08 μm is demonstrated, and supercontinuum generation with spectral coverage of up to 4.2 μm is achieved. The results obtained can be used to develop various mid-infrared fiber laser sources, such as frequency combs, supercontinuum and few-cycle pulse sources, which are required for a wide range of applications
