Electric Field Simulation of 550kVGIL Linear and Corner Elements

Three pillar insulators are important supporting components in GIL, and their insulation performance determines the performance of GIL transmission lines. This article uses the finite element method to model and simulate the electric field of the GIL linear and corner elements, with a focus on calculating the composite field strength, tangential field strength, and normal field strength distribution on the surface of the three pillar insulator legs in the GIL linear and corner elements. Research shows that in a linear unit, the maximum surface field strength of the insulator leg is 29.2kV/cm, and the tangential field strength is 7.62kV/cm. The maximum surface field strength of the insulator in the corner unit is 24.26kV/cm, the tangential field strength is 10.62kV/cm, and the normal field strength is 24.82kV/cm. The field strength at the insulator insert is 42.67kV/cm. This provides a foundation for the structural optimization of the three pillar insulators in the future.
