Applicability Assessment of Electrical Impedance Plethysmography for Vascular Diseases Diagnosis

Most vascular diseases of lower extremities occur due to morphological changes and are often associated with an increased risk of mortality. This article proposes a electrical impedance plethysmography method for diagnosing such diseases. The aim of this study is to evaluate its efficiency for assessing the severity of vascular diseases. The advantages of the bioimpedance method include high temporal resolution, relatively low equipment cost, ease of examination, dimensions, and the possibility for monitoring. , within ±1000% to minimize the standard deviation between the measured curve and the simulation. During the measurements of electrical impedance, hydrostatic pressure and vascular permeability were artificially manipulated to create conditions approximating pathological states. The changes in parameters under different conditions correlated for most subjects and corresponded to expectations.
