Design of Ultra-High Nonlinear Flint Glass Based Photonic Crystal Fiber with High Negative Dispersion over Telecom Bands

This study introduces an optimized ultra-high nonlinear photonic crystal fiber (UHN-PCF) design utilizing flint glass as the core material. The hexagonal cladding structure of the proposed photonic crystal fiber demonstrates remarkably high negative dispersion spanning the O to U wavelength range (1260 nm to 1675 nm), overcoming the inherent dispersive nature of flint glass. At the critical wavelength of 1550 nm, the fiber exhibits an exceptional negative dispersion value of −2241 ps/(nm•km), a crucial feature for high-speed data transmission systems. Additionally, the PCF structure showcases a remarkably high nonlinear coefficient of 720.8 (W•km)^-1 at the same operating wavelength, suggesting potential applications in sensing and supercontinuum generation. The study employs the Finite Element Method to analyze various optical parameters, including effective area and confinement loss. These results underscore the fiber's suitability for long-distance communication systems and lay the groundwork for practical implementation in high-performance optical networks.
