Enhanced Optical, Dielectric and Photocatalytic Properties of SR, CR Co-Doped BiFeO3 Nanoparticles

In this work, BiFeO
3
(BFO) nanoparticles doped with Sr and Cr were synthesized following the sol-gel process. The effect of co-doping on the structural, morphological, optical, dielectric, and photocatalytic properties were studied. The X-ray diffraction data shows a distorted perovskite structure with maximum purity for the nominal composition Bi
0.95
Sr
0.05
Fe
0.99
Cr
0.01
O
3
. With increasing concentration of Sr and Cr content in BFO, particle size, optical band gap and dielectric constant decreases. The photocatalytic degradation efficiency of methylene blue dye using Sr and Cr co-doped BFO is higher than that of other BFO-based materials.
