Earth Observation (EO) Datacube Analysis for Applications in Vegetation and Forest Fire

There has been a rise in data volumes from Earth Observation satellites and other sources, the data acquired daily is huge. The EO data carries high importance for various policy framing and decision making. It has a wide range of uses. A time series analysis helps understand various aspects of a natural process or anthropogenic changes. Utilizing the images for analysis is also a difficult task. The solution is to provide the general user a consolidated and more readily accessible data in the form of a data cube, which is preprocessed and reduces the load on the end-user. The datacube acquires data from various sources and provides users an opportunity to exploit the data over a time range. The high-performance computing developments and cloud storage have revolutionized the evolution of datacubes. Datacubes minimize the time and technical skills required for accessing and preparing the data. There have been recent developments in the domain of EO datacube. This paper showcases an overview of geo datacube and its implementation for vegetation and forest fire. From the results obtained, we envisage that datacube can be a useful tool for easy analysis of various geospatial applications.
