Geomorphic Analysis of an Unnamed Crater in The Diarcia Quadrangle(MC-2): For The Presence of Water Ice Signatures Using Sharad Radargrams

The stability of ice on the surface of Mars in the mid-latitudes is influenced by its high obliquity cycle, which causes the polar ice to shift towards the low and mid-latitudes. Currently, the ice on the Martian surface in mid-latitudes is not stable, but subsurface water ice depositions appear to be a different story. Lobate Debris Aprons, which are similar to rock glaciers on Earth, could potentially preserve these paleo subsurface ice deposits. Our study focuses on an unnamed crater located at 43°44’55.00”N latitude and 137°50’7.97”W longitude in the Diacria quadrangle. This crater, which is approximately 47 km in diameter, is a potential candidate for carrying out glaciation-related studies depending on its data availability. The presence of pitty and brain terrains, glacial landforms like LDA, Viscous Flow Features (VFF), and Glacier Like Forms (GLF) all over the crater, along with promising subsurface water ice profiles from SHARAD radargrams, make this study significant.
