Comparative Analysis of PWV Using Gamit and Pride PPP-AR

Precipitable water vapor (PWV), is an important variable to track when trying to keep an eye on both the climate and the hydrological cycle. In this research work, PWV is calculated for two sites equipped with 1 GNSS station of MNNIT Allahabad (Prayagraj, India) and 10 GNSS stations of UNAVCO (California, USA). PWV is estimated using the GAMIT/GLOBK (Ver. 10.76) and PRIDE PPP-AR (Ver. 2.1) which is validated with the radiosonde data provided by Wyoming University. For the first site, the obtained root mean square errors (RMSE) by GAMIT and Pride PPP-AR are 1.80 mm and 7.69 mm, respectively. For the second site, the obtained RMSE by GAMIT and Pride PPP-AR are 4.19 mm and 4.27 mm, respectively. GAMIT has been found to provide more consistent and accurate PWV measurements when a network of stations is involved in the positioning solution while PRIDE PPP-AR has been found to provide a more accurate solution in case of positioning on a single station.
