Ground Based ARC SAR Interferometry using VNA

Recent research trends show that the SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) based system has a high potential for change detection monitoring. The angular scanning method can provide 360-degree imaging of the surrounding, which will help to monitor open pit mines sites and arch dam structures.The paper discusses the experimentation of the compact and portable ARC SAR interferometry system. For this, a handheld VNA (Vector Network Analyser) was used as EM (Electromagnetic) source generating SFCW (Stepped Frequency Continuous Wave) radar signal in the Ku band. A 360-degree rotating platform to move the antennas in angular configuration is prepared. A controlled displacement to the corner reflector (CR) using a screw gauge arrangement is prepared. A time series displacement of CR is computed using the phase unwrapping technique.
