Analysis of Optical and Microwave Transmission by Linewidth Variation of Metal Mesh for FSS in GPTS

In recent years, glass penetrating transparent surface (GPTS) has been used as spatial filters on glass for 5G indoor application. The presented GPTS based on frequency selective surface (FSS) operating at n257 5G frequency band, covers from 26.5 to 29.5 GHz. The FSS was fabricated using the PETCCL-etching method on acryl glass (
$\varepsilon _{r}$

= 0.0022) substrate. The configuration of the presented FSS is the Jerusalem cross, which was made of the conductor part on the top of the PET layer. While the overall dimensions were maintained, optical transparency (OT) and transmission performance of GPTS were analyzed by transforming the linewidth of the copper and metal mesh (MM) of the conductor part into 5, 10, 50, and 100
$\mu \text{m}$
. The simulation result of the OT shows that as the linewidth changes from 100 to 5
$\mu \text{m}$
, the OT increases from 43.2% to 86.15% under a small loss of transmission performance.
