Fast Method for Analyzing 3D Electromagnetic Problems in Electrical Devices Based on POD

Modeling and simulation play a crucial role in the modern design, optimization, and validation of electronic and electrical industrial applications. For three-dimensional electromagnetic problems, finite element (FE) simulation requires a significant amount of time and computational resources due to the complexity of the physical models. This paper presents a model order reduction (MOR) method based on proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) for fast simulation of these problems in the time domain. We validate the proposed method using TEAM problem 7 and a three-phase transformer, and the results demonstrate that the POD model produces simulation results that are highly comparable to the full model, while significantly reduces the computational time.
