A PV Fed Grid Connected SEPIC-ZETA Converter Along with High Frequency Isolation Fly Back Converter for Multiport EV Applications

Due to the increased pollution rate and poor fuel economy, there is high acceleration in the growth of Electric vehicles (EVs). In general, grid based power supply is connected to the EVs and in order to provide uninterruptible power supply, renewable energy sources (RES) based power is introduced in Electric Vehicles. Renewable energy sources (RES) have many benefits compared to conventional sources such as reduction of overload at local grids and also extends the grid flexibility. However, the PV suffers from voltage fluctuations due to frequent changes in irradiation of Sun. Therefore, for boosting the yield of the PV system, a novel DC TO DC SEPIC-ZETA converter is proposed in this paper. The PV organisation’s maximum operating point is monitored using the Perturb & Observe (P&O) MPPT algorithm. The output of DC to DC converter is given to a high frequency isolated Fly back converter, in which the DC supply is transformed into high frequency AC supply. Further, the AC output is sub-divided into five portions and through individual rectifiers; the AC is converted into DC supply and fed to multiple battery ports. Next, a Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) is used to keep the batteries’ State of Charge (SOC) stable. The use of high frequency fly back converter reduces the number of sources used and also assists in supplying power to multiple batteries of EVs. Also, the MATLAB/Simulink stage is recycled to implement the proposed task in order to investigate performance.
