Design and Experimental Study of Remotely-Controlled Self-Propelled Turner

A remotely-controlled self-propelled turner was developed to solve such problems as high vibration intensity, high power consumption, high resistance and easy wear of turning shovel and scattering the pile during turning due to the failure of the turning system to adjust its forward speed and turning speed according to different materials in the use of the windrow turner, as well as high labor intensity, poor working environment and high use cost due to the need of a driver to operate the diesel turner. For cow dung and walnut branches, the results of the test on equipment structure and operation parameters showed that the turning speed had a significant influence on the power consumption; the forward speed had a significant effect on the turning amount; the turning angle had a significant impact on the decrease in the height of the fermentation pile; the forward speed had a significant influence on the power consumption; the turning angle had a significant effect on the turning amount; the forward speed had a significant impact on the decrease in the height of the pile. However, the turning angle had an insignificant influence on the power consumption; the turning speed had an insignificant effect on the turning amount; and the turning speed had an insignificant impact on the decrease in the height of the pile. It was concluded from the analysis by comprehensive balancing that the optimal combination of structural and operating parameters of the turning system of the remotely-controlled self-propelled turner was as follows: turning angle 45°, forward speed 90 m/h, turning speed 150 r/min. The results of the comparative verification test showed that under this parameter combination, the power consumption of the remotely-controlled self-propelled turner, the turning amount and the decrease in the height of the pile were 8.23
$\text{kW}\cdot \mathrm{h}$
, 124.7 t/h and 1.26 cm, respectively. The research results can provide a necessary theoretical basis for turner design and the production of organic fertilizer from fermented cow dung.
