The Impact of Information Systems and Business Strategy Attributes to Formulate the Corporate Strategy

In their pursuit of success, organizations encounter numerous challenges and obstacles. They overcome those challenges through the adaptation of ambitious strategies that gain them competitive advantages. On the other hand, if those strategies weren't sufficiently developed, they can cause many implementation failures on a strategic level, such as lack of business strategy integration with information system strategy at that organization, that can prevent the creation of an effective corporate strategy. This research identifies Business Strategy attributes and Information System attributes that can be integrally adopted to the suitable strategic positioning typology whether to be a Defender or a Prospector organization. Through the distributed questionnaire, we measured the impact of attributes of both Business Strategy and Information System Strategy on constructing the strategic positioning typology in an organization. Our analyses reveal that the firms in our study are being impacted significantly by different Business and Information System attributes. This emphasizes the importance of utilizing an organizations' resources effectively to ensure maintaining an adequate strategy that will help them compete in their market.
