384Gb/s PAM transmission with CMOS-class driving voltage, optical & RF-amplifier-free reception and low-complexity DSP using a high-slope-efficiency modulator

Using a high-slope-efficiency broadband modulator with theoretically-predicted merit, we demonstrated 900mV_pp-driving, 384Gb/s PAM8 over 300m SMF in C-band with no Tx DSP, Rx-side symbol-spaced 41-feedforward & 1-feedback-tap DFE, and hard-decision FEC. No optical or RF amplification was used for reception.
