Optimization of Stability Control Strategy for Pakistan's AC-DC Hybrid Power Grid

AC/DC hybrid power grids have the inherent characteristics of vulnerability, controllability, cascading failures and so on. Stability control technology has been proved to be a key measure to guarantee security and reliable operation of AC/DC hybrid power grids in engineering practice. This paper focuses on the security and stability problems faced by Pakistan power grid, whose first HVDC transmission project put into commercial operation in 2021, as well as current countermeasures. A technical scheme is proposed to optimize the current stability control strategy taking advantage of the fast and controllable characteristics of the DC system, which has been verified to be effective through simulation cases.
