Cybersecurity in the Heritage Tourism – A Bibliometric Analysis on Usage of UAV & Drones

The global military UAV and drone market size in 2018 stood at over USD 8 billion and is projected to rise with a CAGR of 12.4% and is expected to reach USD 21.76 billion by 2026. Drone-enabling technologies and their future applications in tourism are already diverse and rapidly developing. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) are used for general applications like destination surveillance and inspection and ample information on tourists. Hence, to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and data availability, UAVs and drones must be highly confidential and protected from tampering. Various incidents exhibit that the race between cyberattacks and cybersecurity is perpetual and requires continuous development. Government regulations on UAVs and drones also need to be updated regularly regarding the constant growth in the technologies of drones. The proliferation of drones presents an opportunity for regulators to stimulate a new industry. Regulators may help, impede, or act neutrally in creating innovations when faced with disruptive technological change. The main challenge is determining if current regulatory structures are adequate for mitigating potential negative consequences while enabling drone services to grow. Drone legislation must address public concerns about performance, competitiveness, and long-term viability. This study examines the literature on cybersecurity in various research domains during the last decade regarding metrics like Year of Publication, most active publishers, most relevant research domain, and most used keywords. These parameters were considered through systematic bibliometric analysis using MS Excel and Python to visualize and forecast the results. This paper discusses and analyses the specifications (electronic and physical), networking architecture, types of cyber threats, governance regulations, cryptographic algorithms, standards of UAVs and drones, and their prospective usage in heritage preservation. The results highlight the factors responsible for Cybersecurity in UAVs and drones.
