An Innovation of Creating Condition Based Work Items in Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program

Condition based maintenance (CBM) has been used in airline and MRO for many years, but it is very hard to get approval of replacing preventive work items with CBM items from CAAC, because data integrity cannot satisfy airworthiness authority requirements. Ameco started to research technology and establish management system including airplane data acquirement software, airplane system model, algorithm, maintenance credit, CBM management process since 2020, and had breakthroughs of obtainment of CAAC airworthiness approval in April 2022. Implementation of CBM work item of A320 air conditioner heat exchanger remove and clean was very successful in 2022 and 2023, we plan to extend CBM work items to other type of airplane in the future.
