Correlation energy singular spectrum decomposition: a new intelligent damage recognition method for crane girder structure of engineering machinery

To achieve a more refined and adaptive structural damage recognition of the engineering machinery (crane girder), a new time-frequency analysis method based on Correlation Energy Singular spectrum decomposition (named CESSD) is proposed for the first time in this paper. It is employed for the main girder structural vibration response analysis and structural damage recognition of engineering mechanical (crane). The proposed CESSD algorithm constructs a trajectory matrix and adaptively selects the embedding dimension length. The original Singular Spectrum Decomposition (Singular Spectrum decomposition, SSD) can be determined to obtain the number of modal components. Secondly, its main sensitive component can be determined through the correlation energy ratio of the signal. The frequency and amplitude of the corresponding main sensitive component are obtained. Afterward, the modal parameters of the main girder structure of the crane based on the CESSD algorithm are identified using the CESSD algorithm. Finally, the damage index is defined according to the component signals’ instantaneous frequency and instantaneous energy, and the structural damage is identified. Accordingly, the simulation experiment of the main girder of the crane demonstrates that compared with other structural damage methods, such as EMD and SSD, the proposed method can more accurately realize the adaptive detection and recognition of the crane damage.
