Optimal Allocation of Series Performance Sharing Systems Considering Transmission Loss

Existing research about performance sharing systems (PSSs) centered around the system reliability optimization problems of common bus performance sharing systems (CBPSSs). Aiming at enriching the existing research, this paper investigates the performance allocation optimization problem of a series PSS. Different from CBPSSs, the surplus performance of each component in the investigated system is only allowed to be transmitted to the adjacent components. Moreover, transmission loss is considered. The system reliability is calculated by a recursive algorithm based on universal generating function. Genetic algorithm is utilized to seek the optimal performance allocation policy to maximize the system reliability. A numerical example validates the effectiveness of the proposed method in reliability optimization.
