Research on Dynamic Characteristics of Gear System with Crack Fault

In this paper, the potential energy method is used to establish the calculation model of the spur gear meshing stiffness with tooth root crack fault. By the established model, this paper calculates and plots the spur gear meshing stiffness curve in four states: normal, 1mm crack, 1.5mm crack and 2mm crack. Analyzing the meshing stiffness curve, the influence of different crack depths on the gear meshing stiffness can be obtained. Moreover, a dynamic model of spur gear system is established to obtain the dynamic responses. The results show that there are obvious periodic impulses in the time domain, and the side frequency bands appear near the fundamental frequency in the frequency domain. And with the expansion of crack depth, the amplitudes continue to increase. The research results have certain value for the fault diagnosis of crack fault.
