Efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells is impacted by the incorporation of a light-scattering layer

The study examines the effectiveness of 500 nm TiO
2
layers in Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) to improve light absorption. By integrating these larger-particle TiO
2
layers as scattering elements, the research aims to enhance solar cell efficiency. Comparative analysis between standard 20 nm and 500 nm TiO
2
particles reveals promising results. The DSSC employing the 500 nm TiO
2
paste within a hybrid-structured thin film exhibits a significant efficiency boost, reaching 4.22% to 4.59%. This highlights the substantial impact of larger-particle TiO
2
layers in enhancing light-harvesting efficiency within DSSCs, showcasing their potential for advancing solar energy conversion technology.
