Roman Urdu Slang Dictionary Development for Facebook Comment Sentiment Analysis

A widespread application of computer science in modern times is measuring the diverse aspects involved with beliefs of diverse people in order to forecast the cumulative behavior. This specific application has made it likely for us to develop better strategies that can be adopted in dealing with crises. For achieving this task, it was vital that a research study be conducted on understanding the impact of Facebook posts on cumulative opinion making and developing a system that can comprehend human emotions involved in simple comments. Previously frameworks have been developed to understand the phenomenon but they have been limited widely to known people, famous places and big languages such as English. The research study conducted by the authors targeted Romanized Urdu language content particularly falling in the informal and slang category. This paper will discuss the role of a monolingual dictionary which acts as the basis of the referred research study. The process of dictionary development and its salient features will be discussed with a look at some future directions.
