An Automated Helmet Detection for Bike Power Start Control using Yolov8

YOLO (You Only Look Once) Version 8 is an advanced and highly efficient object detection algorithm that offers real-time, single-pass object detection with exceptional speed and accuracy. This submitted system's design revolves around using the YOLOv8 model for helmet detection to control the bike's ignition switch by relay switch. In this setup, the bike's engine can only be started when the camera detects the presence of a helmet on the rider. Otherwise, It will alert by an alarm. This promising system aims to curtail motorcycle accident-related fatalities by enforcing the compulsory use of helmets, thus encouraging responsible and safer riding habits. The YOLOv8 model for helmet detection interfaces with Raspberry Pi to oversee and control all its functionalities and ensure that the relay switch allows the current into the bike power circuit when the camera verifies the presence of a helmet.
