A blockage in the blood supply or a burst blood artery inside the brain is the two conditions that lead to strokes. Strokes can be classified into two fundamental categories. ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. ischemic strokes caused by artery blockage. All strokes are ischemic in about 87% of cases. When a blood vessel that supplies the brain becomes blocked it prevents blood flow to a specific area of the brain, resulting in an ischemic stroke. Within minutes, the tissues and cells in the brain begin to degenerate due to a lack of oxygen and nutrients.
