Investigating Elevated Temperature Effects on Hot Electron Laser Assisted Cathode Electron Emission

We investigate the impact of thermal energy on the electron emission variation of a Hot Electron Laser Assisted Cathode (HELAC). While the HELAC typically relies only on photon energy to generate electron emission, we expect that the addition of thermal energy will aid in increasing the emission current. We use an Ultra-High Vacuum compatible heater to heat the HELAC between 600 to 800 Kelvin through direct contact. A 200 mW, 650 nm Continuous Wave (CW) Laser is directed on the graphene surface to generate photoelectrons. The laser is chopped into pulses using an optical chopper, enabling us to closely monitor the rise times of emission.
