The Design of Himmapan Animal Illustrations in Super Deformed (SD) Style for Using in New Media

This research aimed to design the illustrations of Himmapan animals in Super Deformed (SD) form for application to new media and to evaluate the suitability of designing the illustrations of Himmapan animals in SD form for application to new media. This research employed a mixed method, starting with qualitative research to analyze data for use in designing the illustrations of Himmapan animals in SD form and then conducting quantitative research to determine the suitability of designing the illustrations of Himmapan animals in SD form. The illustration design of Himmapan animals were divided into three types: bipedal animals, four-legged animals, and aquatic animals. Each type consisted of three kinds of animals. That is, bipedal animals included swan, Hasadee Link bird, and Kinnaree. Four-legged animals included Singha, Mom, and Kochasri. Aquatic animals included Machawan, Naga, and mermaid. The results of this research showed that the design of Himmapan animal illustrations in SD style for application to new media, conveying the uniqueness of Himmapan animals, and conveying value and applying to new media and design according to the characteristics of SD illustrations were at the highest level. The results of this research can be applied to the design of illustrations of Himmapan animals for use in new media. It can also be applied as a guideline for the development for use as a public relations media and commercial products. Moreover, they can be used on online platforms in order to create contemporary awareness of arts and culture.
