Bibliometric and Thematic Analysis of Competency Mismatch Between University and Labor Market Using VOS Viewer and Power BI

In the context of COVID-19 and Industry 4.0, the market’s requirements for college graduates have changed. However, the problem of competency mismatch between university and labor market exists all over the world. This has caused difficulty in the employment of graduates. The objective of this review paper is to identify the global trend of competency mismatch between university and labor market. To identify the global trend, a systematic literature review (SLR) is applied to do the biological analysis and thematic analysis via VOS viewer and Microsoft Power BI. Two research questions are solved in this review paper, they are 1) Is there a problem that competency mismatch between university and labor market in various majors around the world? (RQ1); and 2) what are the implementation solutions for the problem that competency mismatch between university and labor market in various majors around the world? (RQ2) The findings are 1) most of the articles demonstrate the existence of the problem that competency mismatch between university and labor market in various majors around the world, but rarely do articles use data from the labor market; 2) a few articles provide solutions to the problem, and very few put the solutions into implementation.
