Development of a Heating Orthosis

Orthosis is a medical device designed to support, fix or correct body parts. In this article, the orthosis acquires another important function for the rehabilitation of the patient – warming up, providing heat to a certain tissue of the knee joint. Such orthoses are usually used to relieve pain, improve blood circulation and relieve muscle tension in some areas of the body. Temperature control is necessary so as not to harm the patient. To carry out this task, many sensors were analyzed and the most suitable for this study – a SAW sensor - was selected. This sensor is the most suitable solution, as it has a unique characteristic: the sensor is powered by waves, which also go to warm up the tissues. A digital model was created for the article, with the help of which it is possible to predict the action of the future device. Thanks to it, it becomes possible to select the necessary signal parameters for the treatment of certain diseases. Also, in the digital model, it is possible to determine the range of safe amplitudes at which the tissues of body parts are not damaged.
