Continuous Degasser for Steel Melt Treatment

Growing demands on steel quality require producers to increase the share of vacuum-formed steel. However, this leads to an increase in the cost of the final product, including due to higher energy consumption. One of the ways to reduce energy consumption is to switch to a continuous vacuuming. The article proposes the design of a device for continuous degassing, operating within the framework of continuous metallurgical production. Also, using analytical methods, the dimensions of the vacuum chamber were calculated and the degassing time was estimated. The latter is 15.5 minutes. As a result, the energy costs of the proposed vacuum degasser and RH degasser were determined, and a comparative assessment of the energy effect of using a continuous vacuum degasser was carried out. Specific heat losses decreased by 61.6 MJ/t.
