Robust LMI Controller-based Reduced Order Model for Hybrid Microgrids

Microgrids are the foundation of contemporary, smart, and efficient grids. Microgrid stability has emerged as a critical requirement for secure and dependable smart grid operation. The goal of this study is to develop a reduced-order model that can efficiently depict the dynamic performance of a microgrid and assist the control design process. A small signal state-space model of a hybrid microgrid is derived, including the inverter-based and conventional generation models. A balanced truncation-based reduction technique is used to simplify the deduced model. The reduced order model is then used to create a robust controller that ensures system stability under various operating conditions. Finally, time domain simulations are utilized to validate the model order reduction process and assess the performance of the proposed controller.
