Evaluating the Efficiency of Variants of Technical Raw Water Heater Design Solutions at CHPPs

This article presents the results of the research work jointly completed Mosenergo, and Fast Engineering Ltd. on heat-exchange apparatuses for their use as raw water heaters, namely shell-and-tube, plate, and radial-spiral type heat-exchange apparatuses. The problem of creating effective heating systems, regardless of the heating medium used (hot water or steam) in order to reduce weight and size characteristics, reduce or completely eliminate maintenance during operation, including the need for periodic cleaning of heat exchange surfaces from deposits of hardness salts, as well as increase reliability during operation, is the most urgent task. The purpose of the performed study was to increase PSV operation reliability, to reduce its mass and minimize its dimensions, and to reduce or completely eliminate the necessity for maintenance during operation, resulting in increased cost-efficiency for this equipment to be used, which is an urgent objective of the heat power industry.
