Calculation of a flat plate convective film cooling

The convective film cooling is one of the most effective methods of thermal protection of the surface of gas turbines blades. In this paper, a mathematical description of convective film cooling of a flat plate at different angles of coolant injection is proposed. The finite-difference model is based on a nonstationary set of equations for the flow of a viscous, heat-conducting, and compressible gas using near-wall functions. During numerical simulations, the process of settling the quasiperiodic flow of the fluid-dynamic parameters at different angles of injection of cooling gas (30, 45, and 60°) was determined. The small angle of injection of cooling air was found to create more effective thermal protection near the outlet zone of the slot to the inversion point of the temperature distribution along the flat surface of the plate.
