Technical and economic analysis of solar energy utilization opportunities in the Republic of Tajikistan

Tajikistan, with its rich hydro and solar potential, is experiencing energy shortages, especially in winter. It becomes a priority to utilize these resources to meet domestic energy needs. This paper plans to assess the energy needs of Tajikistan with special attention to solar energy potential. The objective is to address the problem of electricity shortage in winter, especially in remote areas. The assessment includes needs analysis, solar energy potential, techno-economic and social assessment, as well as development of an integration strategy and stakeholder involvement. The use of photovoltaic converters in rural and mountainous areas of Tajikistan provides decentralized electrification for isolated settlements. For large cities, centralized solar tower power plants provide a powerful solution. Assessing the solar radiation potential in the region helps to develop informed energy strategies for the country. A combination of decentralized and centralized approaches can provide a sustainable energy system.
