Time-Modulated Linear Frequency Diverse Array for Multi-Target Detection

In this paper, time-modulated linear frequency diverse array for multi-target detection (TMLFDA) is investigated. This can be achieved by introducing a progressive frequency offset along the array elements. Furthermore, to enable the tracking of multiple targets, a time division technique can be utilized to generate multiple narrow pencil-shaped beampatterns. Simulation results effectively illustrated the efficacy of this scheme and compared to a point source to showcase its superior performance. Many examples are considered in this paper. Cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA) is used. 10 GHz is considered as the operating frequency of the antenna according to its applications in the FDA radar. The radiation characteristics of the CDRA antenna are investigated. A 6 dBi gain is obtained at 10 GHz. Linear antenna array is employed to get single target and multi-target detections. Each target can be characterized by (R, θ, and Φ).
