Control System Based on Double-Frequency Drive and Single-Channel Detection for Rate Integrating Vibratory Gyroscope

When the vibratory gyroscope works in rate integrating mode, the gain unbalance between driving circuits will lead to standing wave drift on the resonator, and the gain unbalance between detection circuits will also lead to calculation errors of the standing wave azimuth. Meanwhile, the frequency crosstalk between driving and detection circuits can affect the stability of control system. Aiming at these problems, a control method based on double-frequency drive and single-channel detection is proposed to suppress the drift error of standing wave azimuth. The double-frequency drive compensates for the energy loss of resonator adaptively to avoid the gain unbalance of driving circuit, and meanwhile eliminates the frequency crosstalk between the driving circuit and detection circuit. The single-channel detection avoids the calculation errors of standing wave azimuth caused by the gain unbalance of detection circuit. The 2-h static experiments at room temperature are performed and compared, which reveal that the root mean square (rms) value of the standing wave drift decreases from 0.0274° to 0.0142° with double-frequency drive and further suppresses to 0.0077° with single-channel detection.
