Novel Power Conservation Methods for LoRa-Based Infrared Sensors in Smart Building

In the realm of smart buildings, the deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, particularly long-range low-power networks (LoRa)-based infrared (IR) sensors, has become increasingly prevalent due to their potential for enhancing energy efficiency and monitoring capabilities. However, the operational longevity and maintenance of these devices pose significant challenges due to their battery constraints, prompting a critical need for effective power conservation strategies. In this study, we address the critical issue of power conservation in LoRa-based IR sensors. We propose three innovative power conservation methods tailored for these sensors, aiming to significantly extend their operational lifetime while maintaining performance efficiency. Additionally, this article presents a thorough analysis of power consumption patterns, demonstrating the effectiveness of our approaches in reducing energy demand. Our contributions include a novel framework for sliding time window algorithm-enhanced power management, optimization of sensor operational parameters, and the development of an energy-efficient communication protocol. This research not only provides a substantial advancement in the field of IoT power management but also offers practical solutions for enhancing the sustainability of sensor networks in intelligent buildings.
