Abstract:

Virtual reality (VR) technology has shown great potential in mimicking real-world environments for training and collaboration purposes. This study unveils an innovative VR-based collaborative assembly system, uniquely developed on the Unity platform, offering unprecedented interactive capabilities. Unity, a leading VR development toolkit, offers robust 3D rendering and simulation. Using Unity, the system creates an immersive virtual environment where multiple users can collaborate in real-time on assembly tasks using VR headsets. Intuitive virtual tools and interfaces are implemented for grabbing, rotating, and connecting virtual components. The real-time physics engine ensures authentic assembly experiences. Voice chat and gesture interactions are incorporated to facilitate communication and cooperation. Additionally, visual aids and guidance are provided through integrated cameras and artificial intelligence capabilities. The system aims to deliver an immersive and interactive virtual assembly experience. Further studies can focus on evaluating the user experience and task performance.
