Lightning Fault Assessment and Protection Design of Substation in CFETR

Substation in China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR) plays an important role in the power transformation and distribution network. Once it is hit by lightning, the non-self-recovery insulation of the equipment in the station may be damaged. This article aims to design the lightning protection scheme of substation in CFETR. After identifying the source of lightning risk in the substation, the electromagnetic transients program (EMTP) is used to model the lightning stroke current, transmission lines, and various equipment in the substation and calculate the lightning surge overvoltage. The lightning protection scheme is evaluated according to the simulation results, and the safe operation year is 592.4 a, which meets the standard.
