Modeling of CO2 injection in oil field

The effect of greenhouse gases and especially carbon dioxide on climate change makes the storage and use of this gas to increase the final recovery factor of crude oil from depleted fields the most economical solution. Also, the increase in prices required for prospecting, designing and opening new oil and gas fields led to finding a solution to increase the recovery factor of these useful mineral substances (oil and condensate) through tertiary exploitation methods (hot water injection, micellar solution injection, underground combustion). However, the most useful tertiary crude oil recovery technique is the injection of carbon dioxide into depleted reservoirs, both to increase production of oil and condensate and to store CO

. The analysis of the effect of CO
2
on reservoir rocks from depleted crude oil deposits as well as the systemic and numerical modeling of CO
2
injection and miscibility of oil are necessary conditions to be fulfilled in the development of a tertiary recovery project and the present material describes these steps. That is precisely why the use of CO
2
in increasing the final recovery factor, combined with the storage in depleted oil fields, is a solution worthy of analysis and consideration. Based on world experiences of improved crude oil recovery from oil and associated gas fields, CO
