Abstract:

Electric vehicles (EVs) have become a popular trend in modern times due to their numerous benefits such as the use of renewable energy instead of conventional fuel. When designing the EV architecture, selecting the appropriate DC-DC converter topology is crucial. These converters are essential for matching input voltage with system requirements and controlling power flow. In this study, a high voltage gain Transformerless Buck-Boost converter was chosen for the EV system, which demonstrated high efficiency and minimal power loss. The source for the converter was obtained from solar panels and the MPPT controller was employed for converter control. The performance of the selected converter topology was compared with that of the conventional Buck-Boost converter and Boost converter because these two converters are mainly used in EV systems. The analysis showed that the transformer-less buck-boost converter[2] performed better than the conventional buck-boost converter. The simulation of these converters was carried out using MATLAB Simulink and the results were verified. In conclusion, the chosen converter topology offers improved performance and efficiency, making it a suitable choice for EV systems that use renewable energy sources.
