Enhancing Efficiency in Broiler Chicken Farms: A Rail Systems-Based Approach Feeding Process

The cost of labour significantly impacts the profitability of broiler chicken farms. Implementing automated technologies has become crucial in order to assist farmers in increasing their profit margins. However, the current technology, which is based on screw conveyors, has significant drawbacks. The most severe issue is the failure to ensure uniform feed distribution throughout the farm. Heavy chicken feed falls prematurely into early feeding containers due to centrifugal forces, whereas only lighter feed reaches later feeders. This project intends to analyze, build, and deploy rail systems to automate the feeding process while addressing present screw conveyor system difficulties. This project was divided into several sections, the first of which was designing and constructing the planned rail system prototype. The second phase calculates the ideal angle for the feeding arm, roughly 30°. The third and final section compared the quality of feed from farms that use the screw conveyor method to the quality of feed from the proposed system's prototype. This comparison revealed that the proposed method may reduce feed waste at the selected farm by 7.595%, saving the farm up to RM 10,936.80 per month.
