ADMM-Based Multi-Time Scale Optimal Dispatch of Virtual Power Plants

A large number of distributed generations (DGs) penetrate into the power system, which brings a lot of difficulties to the power system dispatch. Virtual power plants (VPPs) can aggregate and coordinate DGs to improve the reliability of system operation. Based on the synchronous alternating direction multiplier method (ADMM), this study proposes a multi-time scale optimal dispatch strategy of VPPs. In this strategy, the coupling relationship between adjacent VPPs is considered, and the distributed solution of multiple virtual power plants is carried out based on synchronous ADMM. According to the characteristics of intermittent renewable resource output and load fluctuation in VPP, model predictive control (MPC) is used to iteratively solve the dispatch plan of each power control resource in two periods. Considering the carbon emission index, the penalty term is added to reduce the carbon emission of conventional unit power generation. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed optimal dispatch strategy are proved by simulation analysis.
