Broadband Absorption Spectroscopy for Carbon Dioxide Gas Sensing Using Hollow Core Fibre

Carbon dioxide gas impacts environment and human beings. However, the accurate prediction of molecular level is a challenging task. We presented an optical sensing approach for identification of carbon dioxide in a gas mixture by broadband absorption spectroscopy for understanding the concentration level of this molecule in the specific region. The use of optical sensing technique for CO2 offers several improvements in terms of selectivity, sensitivity, response time, and detection. A broadband supercontinuum laser source (spectral range from 800 nm to 2500 nm) is used to measure carbon dioxide's absorption characteristics in the 2017 nm region. A hollow core waveguide with an optical path length of 10m and an FTIR spectrometer was used to visualize the spectra. The least detection limit was calculated as 64.658 ppm at 1o for a data acquisition speed of 20 s.
