Elliptical Spatial Resolution Cell-Based Centralized Target Detection in Multistatic Radar

In the realm of multistatic radar, the problem of centralized target detection has been predominantly contingent upon the design and characterization of spatial resolution cells (SRCs). However, SRCs manifest a range of irregular geometries, engendering complications in their division within the detection space. Such irregularities concomitantly give rise to erratic cell crossing loss, thereby degrading the performance of target detection algorithms. In response to these challenges, a methodology for the geometric standardization of SRCs is proposed in this study. By supplanting irregular SRCs with regular elliptical counterparts, we establish a harmonized spatial domain. A computationally efficient SRC arrangement algorithm is developed, predicated on elliptical geometry, facilitating stringent control over the lower threshold of detection performance. To substantiate the theoretical underpinnings of this work, we employ a non-coherent integration (NCI) detector as a case study, concluding with empirical results that corroborate the merits of the proposed approach.
