Towards Sustainable Production: Rotational Molding for Small-Part Manufacturing Using Recycled Materials from Used Beverage Cartons

Addressing the demand for sustainable materials and processes, this study investigates the mechanical properties and formability of rotational molding products using recycled materials, particularly repurposed used beverage cartons. The type of material of the beverage carton were verified using the FTIR technique. The study examines mixing ratios, highlighting the 2:3 ratio as yielding the highest compressive force. Formability analysis identifies optimal processing conditions: 270 °C oven temperature, 40-minute heating duration, and 5 rpm rotational speed. This research emphasizes the potential of recycled materials in rotational molding, aligned with sustainability objectives, and offers insights for eco-conscious manufacturing practices. The findings contribute to an innovative, environmentally responsible approach to manufacturing, propelling the adoption of recycled materials in rotational molding processes.
