The Construction of Campus Informal Learning Space Driven by Computer Science

The advancement of computer science has led to significant transformations in the educational approach adopted by colleges and universities. This shift has emphasized independent learning behaviors, particularly informal learning. Consequently, there is a growing need to incorporate the planning and design of informal learning spaces into campus development strategies. This paper presents an analysis of the characteristics of informal learning behaviors observed on campus, as well as an exploration of the underlying demands associated with such activities. Based on these findings, the article proposes the strategic placement of informal learning spaces within campus planning. This proposition is examined from three distinct perspectives: the functional configuration, spatial structure, and place-making represent the macro-meso-micro levels. The paper takes the campus planning design of Guangdong Hotel Management College as an example to explore the strategies employed and the effectiveness achieved in facilitating informal learning. Furthermore, we focus on three key aspects: the multi-level informal learning function system, the layout of shared informal learning spaces, and the creation of personalized informal learning environments.
