A heuristic control strategy for reducing rise time in PSM high-voltage power supply

As a key system in tokamak, the electron cyclotron resonance heating system (ECRH) plays an important role by providing the high temperature to drive the device and thus a high-voltage power system (HVPS) that provides the energy to power it. With the increase in the energy level required for fusion experiments, HVPS is required to have the ability to raise to a higher voltage level without increasing the rise time. To avoid overvoltage, this paper proposes a heuristic control strategy based on the transient waveform during a single module startup. The possible maximum voltage at the three extremes after module startup is predicted and used to calculate the maximum number of modules allowed to startup at the current moment. Closed-loop corrections are subsequently discussed with the introduction of noise. The final comparison with the active control strategy in simulation shows that the rising edge is shortened by 38% in the absence of noise, and even 33% in the presence of noise introduction, while meeting the HVPS requirements.
