Precision Education Through the Eyes of Humanistic Teaching in the L2 Classroom

In the fast-paced lifestyle of the 21 st century, individuals are increasingly reliant on a variety of technological devices, particularly mobile devices, as integral parts of their everyday routines. Likewise, the realm of education is actively working to incorporate and leverage the swiftly advancing technology to enrich the process of learning. This has given rise to the concept of mobile learning (m-learning), where the educational sector seeks to harness the potential of mobile devices to enhance student's learning experience. Upon these premises, precision education emerges; the optimal learning subject is transformed into a collection of quantifiable measures, capable of being computed, improved, influenced and even forecast. This command over shaping a future-ready educational subject stems from insights generated on digital platforms, coupled with data originating from behavioral and life sciences, with a specific emphasis on each student's individual learning style and preferences. Notwithstanding, there are challenges inherently linked with the use of MALL for educative purposes, and that is what we intend to examine. Following a similar train of thought, our endeavor aims to guarantee that second language (L2) learners extract the utmost educational advantages by capitalizing on personalised technological advancements (precision education) and methodologies. Simultaneously, the teaching and learning process will be enriched and completely re-imagined as a positive journey from a humanistic standpoint, since all the potential challenges will be highlighted and spotted.
